Panel Two Planning

I have been planning my panel two portfolio board, I will be designing around 10 posters and roughly 6 album covers.  To take inspiration from my artist models I will be using lines, shapes, colours and ombres as these inspirations are what I see most within their artwork. My next steps will be to finish poster designs and finish board one.

Progress from today:

I have been working on designing a poster.

I have used an ombre and a circle with a dark line to reference my artwork towards Shane Hansen. I really like the way he uses lines and colours to create his artwork.

Finalising my logo design

My brand/business for my design is a music artist. For my design, I will be promoting the vocal singer Ariana Grande. My artist inspiration for my logo design was Shane Hansen. He creates his artwork by using simple lines and shapes. Using colours that relate to what his artwork is about and by using ombre within his artwork. I really wanted to combine these key features into my artwork as I think they will be able to work well with my theme.

My original chosen design only used the colours black and white. I really like how this design turned out as it related well to my artist model and also my theme. I also combined text into my logo as it helped my logo stand out. One thing my logo lacked was colour. My chosen colour palette had colours such as purples, pinks, greys, black and white. Having it original in just black and white didn't make it stand out. It was a little too boring. I still really liked the design so I decided to add an ombre effect using different purple colours. I also added white lines to create negative space. I think this really helped my logo to stand out and pop.

Art Emulation (Photography)

In art (photography) we have been playing around with art emulations. My reference was Andre Kertesz, Melancholic Tulip. The proportion of the tulip is different. The bottom half looks as if you are looking at it straight on whereas the top of the vase looks as if you are looking at it from above. To do this I took two photos one from above and one from straight on and combined the images together.

Art Folio Connections (Design)

In art (design) we have been looking at different portfolios and talking about the connections between them. In the first part we can see them looking at different logos relating to a movie poster. They have used colours such as blue, black and white on their logos. Under that they have used the word Tiff. They have been using different fonts and played around with connecting the font to the movie design. Using the same blue, black and white colours and font they have used to create a ticket design. They also have used the same idea and added it to a shirt. On the other side they have created posters. They have stuck to the use of colours and fonts to create their poster designs. At the bottom is their main design with a red camera in the middle of the poster. This relates to the red film logo on the other side. They have used colours and fonts to relate each idea to one another.

Ex Machina (Is Ava a person)

Ex Machina (Is Ava a person?)

I believe that Ava is not a real person. Ava is a robot designed by a man named Nathan. He wants to access Ava on her artificial intelligence so he brings in a male named Caleb to access her. Ava shows emotions and has characteristics of a human. She acts and thinks like a human but Nathan designed her that way. She was created to show the emotions she does. She makes Caleb fall in love with her to escape but Nathan designed her for that to happen. The emotions and feelings she showed were all created in her chip in a specific way to make Caleb believe her. Therefore I think Ava is not a real person even though she expresses emotions and feelings that humans do.

Parenthood (Bladerunner 2049)

 Parenthood (Bladerunner 2049)

(Spoiler Alert)

Bladerunner 2049 is a movie about bioengineered humans known as replicants. These replicants are used as slaves. K (Joe) works for LAPD (LA Police Department). He works as a blade runner and has got to hunt and kill rogue replicants. K goes on a mission to search for a former blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

I consider K to be a human. In the context of this movie, a human is considered to have a "soul". They have emotions and can feel things. K had a memory from when he was little. Even though that memory was an implant he still had emotion attached to this memory. K also has a girlfriend named Joi. Even though Joi isn't real and is just a hologram, K loves Joi. When Joi's program is smashed, K is hurt and if he wasn't a "human" he wouldn't have had these emotions. K experiences a lot of pain through his mission to find the missing blade runner. He also has to much emotion to be able to kill/let Deckard die. If K wasn't a human/didnt have a soul, he would of been able to watch Deckard die without feeling emotion. Therefore I believe K is a human and has a soul.

I dont consider Joi to be a human.

To be continued

Art Design Logo Practise

 Art Design Logo Practise

In art design lvl2 we have been studying logo designs. We have been creating different spaces with different colours to create our own logos. I have been using colours such as purple, yellow, black and white with a bit of blue. Negative space is the space around the subject. For example on my first design I have used negative space by adding white into my shape and around my shape. Next week I am going to start to create more logos around my theme (that I need to come up with).

Art (Photography) Photocopy Prints

Art Photography Photocopy Prints

In art photography we were played around with different objects and compositions to create different designs. We started by collecting different plants and flowers and placed them in random corners of the page. This created different designs even when we used the same objects creating different compositions. We also played around with different colours. We did some in a grey tone and some in colours to see what we liked better. I think the grey tone looks better on the image with the crabs, whereas I feel like colour looks better on photo 6.

We also tried doing a symmetrical (piece 8).

Fixed vs Growth Mindset

 Fixed vs Growth Mindset

Fixed Mindset:

A person with a fixed mindset believes that their skills, intelligences, and abilities are fixed. They don't believe that these can change and grow as they learn. They tend to not true new things as much as they are scared of failing because they thinks its embarrassing and they don't believe their skills can change. From example a fixed mindset person will think that if they are not good at something, they will probably never be good at it.

Growth Mindset:

A person with a growth mindset believes that their skills, intelligences and abilities are able to change and grow if they decide they decided they want to get better and develop these things. They are willing to try new things as they believe failure is just a learning curve and that the more you try the more you improve. They believe that their intelligences and talents can be developed and grow as they learn. A growth mindset person will think that if they are not good at something, the harder they work the more they can grow at that something.
Everyone is intelligent in their own way. It doesn't have to be through maths or english or how "smart" you are. Your intelligence isn't defined by how much knowledge you can store in your brain. Everyone is a part of one of these intelligences.

1. Music
2. Linguistic
3. Intrapersonal
4. Interpersonal
5. Nature
6. Logic
7. Kinesthetics
8. Visual
9. Existential

A person with a fixed mindset will believe that people are born with a certain intelligence and that they cant learn and improve their other intelligence, whereas a person with a growth mindset will believe that if they learn and work hard enough they can improve their different intelligence and can grow any of the 9 intelligence listed above. Some people are born where one of these intelligences is easy for them rather than someone else. This does not mean that you cant improve in the others that you don't feel as confident in. I believe that having a growth mindset is better because it allows you to develop and improve as a person and you are not afraid to try new things even if at the start you are not the best, if you work hard enough you can become the best.
