Another World (Diversity)

Another World, Diversity

In english, we have been learning about connecting with different stories that have been set up in different worlds. It shows us that they'res always messages behind every story and just because it might be fake or not real doesn't mean it not trying to tell us something.

James Cameron’s Avatar could be connected to humans destroying natural habitats where animals/other humans are already living.

Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games helped me to understand how sometimes rich people can take advantage of poor people.

Edgar Rice BurroughsTarzan helped me understand that nature is very important and without nature, we wouldn’t be here.

Willow Maid helped me understand that you should always respect what others have to say.

Avatar “The Great Divide” helped me understand that just because there might have been something bad in the past doesn't mean it should dictate the future.

Butterflies “Patricia Grace” helped me understand that you don't always have to say to someone that their wrong but explain what you think and feel.

Avatar “The Waterbending Master” helped me understand that the world should not be divided into different things just because someone's a male, or someone's a female. We should all be treated equally.

Supergirl “Part 1” helped me understand that you shouldn’t “judge a book by its cover” and that you shouldn't assume things about people.

Zootopia helped me understand that you shouldn’t always believe what you see online and what people tell you. It also helped me understand that there is always a good side to everyone even if they don't show it at first.

Glee helped me understand that you shouldn’t hurt people's feeling to make you feel better about yourselves. It also helped me understand that you should always help people who need help.

Reflection 5 practical outcomes (term1)

5 practical outcomes:

Spag bol, Pasta with tomato sauce, breakfast muffins, grilled beef kofta, chicken curry.

Teamwork: I think my team worked really well together because we all knew everyone's strong and weak points so we could help each other. There were a few hiccups along the way but solved them and came out as a strong team. I think it worked better with just 4 people, not 5.

Measuring:
The measuring with these recipes was easy because it's not like baking and doesn't have to be exact and you can change them if you have fewer people or more people.

Different types of measurements:
tsp: teaspoon
C: Cup
Tbsp: Tablespoon

Spag bol:

What I liked: I liked that it was easy to make but taught us how to make something that you could make for your whole family.

What would I change: Add cheese on top next time.

Final thoughts: I thought this was a really fun practical.

Pasta with tomato sauce:

What I liked: I liked that all the team enjoyed making this one and it was fun to make.

What would I change: I would add less sauce because it was quite powerful.

Final thoughts: Was a great practical and I would do it again.

Breakfast muffins:

What I liked: I liked that it was kinda like we were baking, because baking is fun.

What would I change: I wouldn't change anything.

Final thoughts: Was fun and we all had a good day

Beef kofta:

What I liked: I liked that this was different from all the over practicals and it was something I had never made before.

What would I change: I would change the sticks because they got really hot and couldn't hold it.

Final thoughts: Was one of my favourites because it was different.

Chicken curry:

What I liked: I liked that all our team members had something to do.

What would I change: I would make the recipe a bit less confusing and the rice was a bit overcooked.

Final thoughts: Wasn't one of my favourites but was still fun to make.

The final outcome for term 1:
At the start it was a bit confusing because it was new but once we got used to everything it was really enjoyable.

Character strengths (term 1)

Character Strengths (term 1)

This character trait was shown in Avatar when Avatar came up with the idea of the giant cat thing to fly the sick and the elder across the canyon.
It shows us that it is important to be creative because you can come up with good ideas that could be helpful.
I think that being creative can get you a good job.

This character trait was shown in Avatar when the two different sides would judge each other by how they would act and look. It shows us that you shouldn’t judge people by how they look because they could be a really nice person. I think that judging things can be good but it can also be bad.

This character trait was shown in Avatar (part 2) when Katara stood up to the waterbending king and demanded to become apart of the team. This shows good perseverance and it shows you don't have to be male to be brave.

This character trait is shown in Avatar (part 2) when the waterbending king finally allows Katara to join the team even though it’s only meant for “males”.

This character trait is shown in Zootopia when Judy and Nick work together to make the world a better place and when they tried to figure out who was making the animals go savage.

This character strength was shown in the movie Zootopia when Judy never gave up hope on Nick. She was always there for him and was determined to make him believe that you can be anything you want to be. I think this shows good friendship because you should always be there for someone especially when they need a friend.

English (Zootopia)

Zootopia

Over the past two weeks, we have been learning about Zootopia and have been watching the movie.

This is my essay I wrote about how Nick changed throughout the movie.

In the movie Zootopia, we see Nick change a lot throughout all the scenes. At the start of the movie he lies, steals, and thinks that people should stick to their stereotypes. He changes a lot, thinking stereotypes don't have to be matched and even ends up becoming a proud cop.

At the start of the movie, Nick makes Judy feel like a failure and that she will never be a real cop. When Judy tries to confront Nick about buying the jumbo pop just to sell it he just brings her down and makes her feel like she's not worth anything. Nick says “you think you can be anything you want to be but you can’t”. “You’re just a dumb bunny, I'm a sly fox”. I think Nick was really arrogant and disrespectful. It makes him look stuck up.

In the middle, Nick opens up to Judy about his feelings and tells her why he thinks everyone has to follow their stereotypes. While Judy and Nick are the on Gondola, Nick tells her about his childhood and when he joined the boy scouts. He talks to her about how the others at boy scout beat him up and put a muzzle on him. “Why would we ever trust a fox,” said the other boy scouts. I think that Nick thinks everyone doesn't trust him because he is a fox and makes me think that Nick is traumatized by this experience.

At the end of the movie, Nick joins the ZPD and even gets a badge. While Judy is doing a speech and says “life is messy”, Nick is being awarded a badge to show that he's a real cop. “Officer Nicholas P. Wilde, look inside yourself and recognize that changes start with you”. “It starts with me, it starts with all of you,” Nick said. I think that Nick is proud of himself from being a lying, rude fox too and happy, caring police officer. He knows that he can be someone good and that he doesn't have to follow his stereotype.

A character that has changed throughout the movie is Nick. At the start, he is a lying, stealing, jerk that only cares about himself and follows stereotypes. By the end of the movie, he is a proud, caring police officer that believes that anyone can be anything.
