The Excuse By Andy Griffiths

Today we read a short story by Andy Griffiths called The Excuse.

We went on mindmup and wrote a plan on what our story was going to be like.

The story we read was for inspiration and it was really funny

This is the start of my plan

The story was about a boy being late to school again and he had to come up with an excuse.

The Three Billy Goats Gruff

Readers Theatre:

What am I learning: To be a more confident reader and have fun while using expression.

How am I going towards achieving this learning?
Because while reading the script I had expression and was confident while reading.

What am I going to do to be a stronger performer in readers theatre?
I am going to not be nervous and practise my scripts.

I was reading the part as storyteller 1 and 2 and I had a lot of fun while reading it.

Writing Goal

Writing Goal

My goal in writing is:
For punctuation my goal is to use commas when listing things, use question marks when questions are asked, to use exclamation marks to show strong feelings, loud noises/voices

I have chosen this goal because:
I went to get higher marks and not get lower marks.

To achieve this goal I will need to:
Make sure to use commas and questions marks and exclamation marks.

By making a water fountain for the birds because there is no fresh water on the island.
Making a penguin box for the penguins so that they can live somewhere safe and warm.

What is Sustainability?

Replanting native trees on quail island.

What is Rahui Tapu?
Something that is sacred. It is something that is restricted.
If the penguins get scared cause a lot of people on the island giving them a restricted area so that they will not be scared.

Leprosy Writing

A Day In A Life Of A Leper

My name is Will Vallane and in 1907 I was forced to go to quail island because I had Leprosy. I was diagnosed in 1906. The same year as I had to go to Quail Island I was built a small house because I hated being in a giant hospital all by myself it was kinda creepy too. When I wake up I always had to wait for Mr W.Thomas (my caretaker) to bring my breakfast because I was not capable to make my own breakfast. He also comes in to feed my Tui, John.. Every time around 12.00pm I would always listen to records and look at pictures in the book because I could not read all I could see was the bright colors. Mr W.Thomas would cut my wood so that I could set my fire so that I wasn’t cold when I went to bed. He also had to bring my dinner at 7.30pm so that at 8.00pm I could ring my family and friends and see how they were. 5 minutes before I went to bed I sat outside and thought about life in Christchurch. 9.00pm I slowly fall asleep.

What am i learning?
To give examples and uderstand the meaning of Kaitiakitanga, Sustainability, and Rahui Tapu.

What could I do next time?
I could add more information and maybe more color.

What am I wondering?
If people show Kaitiakitanga, Sustainability, and Rahui Tapu in all countries and how do other countries show it.

Gymnastics 4 2017

Today is the last week of term and I would like to achieve going on the vault.
I am really excited for today and I cant wait to get started.
Today I went on most of the equipment and I really enjoyed going on the floor cleaning up skills and teaching my best friend how to do a round off.
The best thing about gymnastics this year was Mr helping me with my back handspring and helping me get better at a back handspring.
I really enjoyed gymnastics this year and I don't want it to be over.

How do humans treat Nature?

Nature/Sustainability

I am learning about humans relationship with nature.
I think that humans need to be more careful with nature because after watching some videos I have seen a lot of disgusting things humans are doing to nature. Like cutting down the all the trees that give us air. Not picking up our rubbish and rubbish bags piled up in the ocean. Nature can live without humans but humans can not live without nature. Plastic bags are suffocating our marine life and they are eating the plastic. If humans don't keep nature healthy all humans will die. People are poisoning the ocean and we need to treat nature with respect.
Our actions will determine our fate.

How do this show my working? This shows my working because I have said things I don't like that humans are doing to nature.

What am I wondering? I am wondering if people are just saying they're going to make a change because that's the right thing to do or if people are actually going to help make a change.

Orana Wildlife Park

Orana Wildlife Park

What did I learn: I learnt that to stop keas from dying so often is that we need to stop feeding them human food and let them find it themself. That keas are one of the most smartest birds.

Recount of the day: We got to meet our zoo teacher his name was Toby and he showed as around the zoo and told us facts about each of the animals that we saw. My favourite animals to see were the giraffes and the cheetahs because we got to get pretty close. We were going to feed the giraffes but the giraffes didn't come over so we couldn't give them any food. It was a great time at the Zoo and I hope to do it again.

Stand by me kete

What am I learning: Describe the changes, challenges and needs of adolescents with respect to the 4 dimensions of Hauora.

How does this work show my learning; Because I wrote under each caption what I thought the meanings of Taha Whanau, Taha Wairua, Taha Hinengaro and Taha Tinana meant.

What am I wondering: If people really use the 4 dimensions of Hauora.

B&E reflection four

28.6.17

What am I learning: How to start a small business and sell products. Making and selling products as a group and knowing the limit of how much money we have. Making sure we get a profit not a loss. Learning how to work as a small company with other people helping you.Learning how to make and finish products in a limit of time and money. We are learning to how to be work as a group.

How am I progressing in my learning: By making and finishing our products. Showing that we have listened to everyone's ideas by making the product how they think looks best. We have gotten a lot done as a group and have helped everyone out. Making our products to look good so that we get a profit. We have stuck to our given budget because we were allowed up to $20 and we have used only $5 from our product.
We have been keeping track of our spending because we only had to buy 2 things and have only spent $5.
We have stuck to our business plan because we have written everyday what we have been learning and we have stuck to what we our making on our plan.

What did I achieve today: The making of our products. We have gotten a lot of our key chains and book marks made and and a few bracelets done so that we will be ready to sell them. We have achieved our posters and our boxes for putting our products in. Even though a member of our group has been away for a couple of days we have still gotten a lot of work done.

What do you need to work on tomorrow: Making sure everything is finished and ready to sell and to put our posters up. Going around the school and putting our posters up so that we can get more of a profit and people know to be ready to buy our products. Counting and seeing how much of each product we have made and seeing if we need to make more.

What has my company done so far: We have done most of our books marks and key chains and almost all of our bracelets. We have made neat posters for our station and around the school. We have worked as a group to get all of our products done. We have shared ideas and now what to work on as a group.

What my companies next steps are: Making sure that we work as a group to sell our products to other people. Telling people and family/friends about our company so that people will buy our products and help us reach a profit.

What you expect on market day: We expect to make a profit. We expect to make $10 or more dollars so that we can give our money back and because our products aren't like anyone else's and that our products are good.

My letter for Mrs Elley

Black Leather School Shoes
Hornby High School
180 Waterloo Road
Hornby
Christchurch 8042

16th June 2017

Dear Mrs Elley

Black leather school shoes are the best option for hornby high to wear at school especially with all the construction and different subjects that could be dangerous if dropping something on your foot. Leather shoes so be worn during school hours because if something got dropped on your foot it wouldn't hurt as much as if you dropped it on thin shoes. If acid from the science room was spilt and landed on your foot it’s most likely it would go through your normal shoes but if you’re wearing leather shoes it will not likely go through.

Leather shoes look much neater and tidier while wearing your school uniform it makes us look well together and black shoes aren't colorful which makes it even better. Leather shoes make it much easier to buy because you know what shoes you’re going from, if your parents were going to buy school shoes they would keep asking what shoe should they buy but when they know to buy leather shoes it make it much easier to find.

When buying shoes for school the cost of leather school shoes would be much cheaper than buying expensive looking sneakers. At the start of school year they’re always sales on school shoes which makes things a lot easier to buy because they will be cheap and sturdy shoes.

Because of safety, presentation and cost black leather shoes should be worn most classes but sneakers should be able to be worn when play sports/fitness.

This shows logic because its they added statistics. Its trying to say that there product its better to buy because its saying its 30x stronger.

Pathos: emotional apparel

This shows emotion by showing you what has happened to this bird and the effects on the bird. They're trying to make pick up your rubbish and not through it in the sea.

How to make a strong bridge.

What a strong bridge looks like:

Different between squares and triangles:
The names and the shapes.

What shapes are strongest:
Triangles are the most strongest shape in the world

How can you use newspaper to make it strong:
Image result for how to make a strong bridge out of newspaper

Yesterday we made a bridge similar to this design and it was the strongest bridge in the class
The next day was the competition and we had to make a new bridge and it only held 40kgs not as much as our old one from yesterday.
I think our bridge was stronger yesterday cause they were more tight and thinner and more sturdier.
