Community Of Hornby High

MindMup

What is the purpose of this task: To learn our values and how a lot of people help out at this school. To show that we know who's in our community and the responsibilities in our school.

How does it show my learning: Because of all the facts we learnt and know and the info we found out about my/this school.

If I did it again what would I do differently: I would find out more information about our school and our helpers.

Describe how HHS is a community: Because we help each other out and we always get to know one another. We always show our values.

Hands On Fire 2017

Aim: We are finding out what its like to put your hands on fire safely in a lab.

Equipment:

  • Water
  • Gas Hose
  • Box
  • Detergent
  • Lighter
  • Safety Glasses
Method
  1. Put your safety glasses on your eyes
  2. Roll up any long sleeves to make sure its past your elbows
  3. Tie up all of your hair and tuck into your shirt
  4. Wet your hands up to your elbows and make sure its all covered with water
  5. Scoop up a handful of bubbles using the gas hose and detergent in a bucket/box
  6. Make sure your hands are straight out in front of you and no where near your face
  7. Get someone to light the bubbles at the bottom of your hands with a lighter
  8. To make the fire stop you move your hands out so it looks like you're a mime
Results: So last year in 2016 I didn't it because I was to scared but this time I stepped up my game and even went first. The fire did not do anything to my hands it only burnt the gas. It made my hands smell like gas but you can easily wash it off with a bit of soap and water. It looks pretty scary but if you ever get the chance to do this experiment you should DO IT. You will love it

Discussion:
This was pretty safe and did not burn at all but to make it safer is to much sure there is no body around you so you have room to stop the fire.
The fire did not burn our hands because it takes a pretty long time to burn through water which was protecting us but the reason why it burnt the bubbles was because of the gas.
I really enjoyed this experiment because it was something out of my comfort zone and it has a really cool result. I would love to do this again

Drama

Today we were learning to use:
Commitment when I committed to learning and listening to what games we were doing.

Energy when I joined in with the games and ran around when i was being chased.

The games we played were
Zombies and Finding Nemo

State: The zombie game

Explain: Its where you start of with 2 zombies and u can stay still and the zombies cant get you but once you start moving you have to keep moving and once you get tagged you become a zombie.

My opinion:
I enjoyed the games because everyone got involved

My Tagual

My Tagual.

What I am Learning about: My School Values And The Meaning's Of Them.
Respect, Resilience, Achievement, Commitment.

How my work shows what im learning
Because i wrote my school goals and what im trying to accomplish
and by the way the values are used and learning off them.

Reflections
What I Liked: The photo and the outcome of my tagual.
What I'd Change: Different words to fit my personality
What I Found Challenging: Coming up with different sentences to fit each value.
