What does the graph show us?
The Maori and European population change in New Zealand during 1836-1901

Why do you think the numbers of Maori changed?
Because the Maori would fight with each other for the land and there we're diseases which caused numbers of death to rise. The female couldn't repopulate because of sexual diseases.

Why do you think the numbers of Europeans changed?
More ships arrived with Europeans so they had more power which gave them more land.

What similarities are there between the myths and stories of Maori and the first British Missionaries?
They both have gods.
Connected with ancestors.

Why would the difference between Maori beliefs and English beliefs cause conflict?
Because they were of a different culture.
They believe in different things.

Science Sail Racing

1. Research:
For my teams sail design we decided we wanted to base it on what sails actually look like so when we researched different sails we saw that they were kind of triangular shaped so we tried making a triangular shaped sail.



2. Design:
Our design was based on what actual sails look like because we thought if they work with real sailboats they might work with our sail car things. We also wanted to make sure the sail was sturdy so we added cardboard to the paper so that it would stay up. When we decorated our sail we wanted it to be colourful and goofy so we added our team name to the front which is SAC which stands for Stevie-lee, Alayna, and Chloe.

3. Build:
Our build process was kind of easy because it was simple and didn't take long. We had a large piece of newsprint and we folded it into a triangle and sellotaped it together. We then put a hole at the top and the bottom of the triangle so we could sellotape it to the metal rod which was attached to the car thing. We then rolled up cardboard so that it was bendy and tapped it to the back of the paper so that it could be more sturdy. Lastly, we decorated the paper with lots of different colours.

4. Test:
The first test we did was the speed and distance test. The results of our first test were 20.5cm
The first distance test we did the results were 1.8m
Our boat got around 3/4th place out of the 7 teams.

5. Redesign/Making Changes:
We decided to add more cardboard to the back of the sail so that it was more sturdy and wouldn't fall over if the wind would push it. We added cardboard along the rod aswell.

6. Retest:
Our second test was just distance and the results were the exact same 1.8m

Evaluate:
Adding more cardboard to the back of the sail didn't actually help at all. They both went the exact same distance both time so next time I think we should try using a different shape of the sail so that it can go further and faster.

My video is showing the number 3 floor routine.

Why did you choose this sequence?
I chose this sequence because it was the one I was most proud of.

Do you think you have improved in this sequence?
Yes

How did you improve?
I think I improved because the more I practised the easier the routine became and I could do it over and over again.

Who was in my group/what did we make?
I was in a group with Chloe and we were learning about roman numerals. We made a poster giving examples of different numerals and what they were used for and we gave out little bracelets with different numerals on them.

The interesting thing I learnt?
The most interesting thing I learnt was how mummies were made and why they took so long to make them.

Favourite fact?
The god Mars was the son of the god Jupiter and goddess Juno.

Working in a group.
I really liked working in a group because it was fun and when your working with people you get things done faster.

There was a red/pink ribbon tied to the ramp of the door and when we were ready to start Mr Sutton (The principle) got to cut open the ribbon for us all.
